A Chef Base Refrigerator differs from other counter-top refrigerators for a couple of reasons. One is that there are caster brackets beneath the unit to allow it to support greater weight on the work top surface. This one will support 610 lbs. Another is that an air chamber, a vent system and a high heat insulation tech mat layer enable the counter top to withstand up to 500F without cracking or bubbling. The third is that stainless steel corner guards on the work top prevent equipment from sliding off. This piece has a 304 stainless steel interior and counter-top with a 430 stainless exterior. Two and a half inches of polyurethane foam is used for insulation. The refrigeration is located in a removable side panel. Its condenser slides out handily for cleaning and maintenance. The refrigerant used is R-134A. An electrically timed air defrost keeps it in excellent working order. The two drawers are easy to open and close because of being placed on low friction glide bearings. They also have 2 inch of insulation. Their corners are rounded and their handles are recessed so that they have a decorator appearance. Their one piece snap-in gasket can be replaced simply. Their frames and pan dividers are made of stainless steel and will hold 6 full size PVC pans. The temperature range if the unit is 33 to 41F, and it’s operated by push buttons, with a digital display available, so you can check it at a quick glance. Its precision is monitored with a microchip. The base rests on 4 inch casters.
